The founder of Klattermusen, Peter Askulv is still very much the driving force in this company. He often says that the best outdoor activities are those performed in really tough weather conditions. Because in snowstorm and rain he will be able to tell if Klättermusen clothing and equipment really works. And by now, you can be sure - Klattermusen works!
The aim of Klattermusen is not to be the biggest outdoor brand, but the quality should always be the absolute best. This means fabrics, zippers, buttons etc. is permanently tested and evaluated. Another result of the ambition to always offer highest possible quality is that the models not necessarily change every season. Why change a perfect piece of clothing just because a new year has arrived?
e-VENT, Triple-Point Ceramics®, Gore-Tex®, Membrane®, Sympatex® are excellent materials. They can keep you dry in the worst conditions, but to say that they breath is not true. To breath is something only leaving creatures can do and is a completely different process than what we can expect from clothing, even from the best outdoor clothing on the market.
What we can expect from outdoor clothing however is that the material can transport humidity. The membrans mentioned above and other membrans can to some extent do this. But a problem arrise during hard activities. Sometimes the membrans are to slow in transportating the humidity our bodies produce and the result is that we get wet.
To deal with this problem a system called Mass Flow Strategy has been created. By grading a piece of clothing in a Mass Flow Rating (MFR) it is shown to wich extent that piece of clothing stops wind and trasports humidity.
To state an MFR for each model is a good example of how Klattermusen allways try to very honeslty show, when and why their clothing should and should not be used.
