| The technology behind Icebug® is called BUGrip®. The components are: a unique rubber mixture, individually flexible steel studs and reinforced stud tips made of carbide steel. On slippery surfaces the studs penetrate the surface to give a secure grip, but on hard surfaces, such as stone or asphalt, the studs fold in making it possible for the rubber sole to grip. Since the studs are independently flexible a mixed surface can mean that it is a mixture of studs and rubber that gives the secure grip. The rubber mixture is specially formulated to give an excellent grip even in extremely cold conditions. The result is superior gripping regardless whether you happen to walk on ice or run on stones covered in wet leaves. Another product within the Icebug® range is BUGweb*. It would be wrong to simply call it a stud, as it is much more, but it is a close description. BUGweb* is integrated into the sole of the shoe meaning that the threads in the sole work in harmony with the studs to give the ultimate grip and balance possible. Further more the shoe can also be used without the BUGweb® meaning that the shoe can be worn in various situations and conditions. I, for one, can vouch that Icebug® has made its mark – particularly on my parquet floor! It was one of those mornings in the middle of winter. My two-year-old son, who was due at nursery, was finally dressed in all his warm clothes when I realized that I had forgotten his nappies. It was easy to forget to take off my shoes and just run in and get the nappies, and… oops! That is really the only warning one has to give regarding these shoes. Otherwise Icebug* shoes are fantastic products that really gives you the reassurance of knowing you will be walking with a safe grip whatever the weather conditions! |
